Guide to Czech culture
Your funny, friendly, slightly cheeky introduction to “how Czechs really think, live, joke, celebrate… and survive winter.” 🙂
Ever felt like Czechs live in a parallel universe?
You know…
⚪ People say “to je v pohodě/it’s fine” but mean “absolutely not.”
🔴 Everyone eats bábovka but nobody agrees whose babička makes the best.
🔵 You hear “To neřeš!” and suddenly you’re supposed to magically understand everything.
If you’ve ever thought: “What on earth is going on here?”
…welcome!
You are in the right place, because this e-book is your friendly shortcut to finally understanding Czechs without decoding them like ancient hieroglyphs.
🌍 Meet Alberto = your guide, your buddy, your cultural translator
Alberto is an Italian guy who packed his suitcase, flew to Czechia, fell in love with it…
…and realised he had no idea what was going on around him. 😂
So he takes you with him for a whole year in the Czech Republic:
12 months.
12 stories.
12 cultural “aha!” moments.
… plus enough Czech words, jokes, quirks and local weirdness to keep you smiling all day.
It’s Czech culture, but fun, digestible, and finally maková buchta-level understandable.
⚪ What’s inside?
Eight reasons you’ll love this book (and maybe love Czechs more too):
1. Fun stories that feel like real life
Bavíte se? Yes. Učíte se? Also yes. Every chapter shows you what daily Czech life actually looks like.
2. Useful Czech phrases you’ll hear everywhere
Not textbook stuff, only REAL stuff. From tiny expressions to everyday slang.
3. Cultural insights that finally make things “click”
Why Czechs love ponds or why everything stops at Christmas… or as you probably know: why beer is basically a food group.
4. Local humor decoded
And don’t worry, we explain the jokes so you don’t have to pretend-laugh ever again. 😁
5.Grammar sprinkles you won’t even notice learning
It’s like hiding vegetables in a kid’s meal,.. suddenly you know more Czech without trying.
6. Written in Czech and English
Perfect for any level — from curious beginners to advanced learners wanting cultural depth.
7. PDF or print –> you choose!
Keep it on your phone or create your own little cultural booklet.
8. Made by 3 tutors who know how to make learning feel human
This isn’t sterile, it’s alive, warm, very playful. Like a Czech welcome hug (with a cup of čaj… or pivo).

And suddenly Czech people make sense… even the weird parts.
You’ll find yourself thinking:

or
“Oh wow, now I understand this joke.”
And your Czech will naturally become more fluent because you finally know the why behind the words.

This wonderful book is not just a guide, it is like a friend who takes you by the hand and shows you the heart of the czech republic. It makes you feel warm, it makes you smile with its funny words written by Sarka, Monika and our Eliska. You don’t just read about places, you feel like you are part of a special story where every place in this country feels like your own home.
I live here and I really enjoyed this format.
Sending warm greetings from northern Bohemia,
Jane

Alberto is travelling throug the Czech republic and sometimes he has a beer, another month he needs to call the ambulance, then he wants to meet a Czech girl and get her number, he is also going bluberry and mushroom picking… Everything that is so typical for czechs.
Monika, Sarka and Eliska wrote an amazing liitle book. One page is always comics and dialogs and words and phrases. Second page is grammar explanation, traditions and behaviour explanation, slang notes, language notes… why is únor called únor?
Very good work!

Bylo to docela vtipné, líbilo se mi to. Když jsem si ji koupila, už jsem tu pár let žila, ale i tak bylo příjemné vidět tolik informací na jednom místě. Nejvíc se mi líbily části o hovorové češtině, hantecu a všechna vysvětlení.
