Immersion Program

From understanding Czech… to reacting naturally in real life.

You already know some Czech but in real life you freeze, overthink and stay quiet.

Immersion is a 4-month speaking program for thoughtful learners who no longer want to sit on the sidelines of Czech conversations and instead want to reply, join, and belong.

In this program you practise Czech until:

  • you react instead of freezing (even with imperfect endings)
  • you stay in conversations instead of switching into English
  • you handle “I didn’t understand” calmly and without shame
  • you feel like yourself = thoughtful, intelligent, and allowed to take space in Czech
  • and Czech conversations start feeling like a place you belong

Our next round begins on 26 January 2026.

And we’d love to have you with us.

15 000 CZK (split into 4 × 3 750 CZK)

For those who already feel “yes”. Joining before 19 January comes with

+ 2 extra 30-minute 1:1 sessions (total 4)

for personal support, usable anytime during the 4 months. First Immersion of 2026. Let’s do this together.

we are slowczech network komunita pro lektorky cestiny pro cizince

This program IS exactly for you if...

  • you already understand some Czech and can say at least simple sentences

  • you know some grammar and words, yet real conversations still feel hard

  • you often understand the situation but stay quiet instead of joining in

  • you want Czech to be part of your everyday life, not only of your lessons

  • you’re willing to try speaking, even when it’s not easy

... and NOT for you if...

  • you are at the very beginning and Czech sounds more like noise than a language

  • you prefer grammar explanations mostly in English

  • you feel most comfortable following a book or a generic, level-based course

What your Czech life starts to look like after Immersion:

You don’t just survive Czech conversations, you join them!

You talk to your family, neighbours, colleagues, teachers, delivery guys,…  without rehearsing everything in your head.

When you don’t understand, you are not anymore that foreigner who smiles, nod, pretend… but you stay in the conversation… calmly and without shame.

You add your opinion, your humour, your personality… in Czech!

You’re the person who tries, speaks and connections even with imperfect grammar and extra large vocabulary.

You know you’re allowed to take the time and space your Czech needs.

Czech becomes something you use, not something you only know from Duolingo or textbooks.

And slow(czech)ly, you realise that you belong in Czech conversations already while learning… not one day when you feel “ready”.

This is a time-limited group program!
We’ll start and progress together.

from 25 January to 25 July 2025

You are not learning Czech to tick off a finished book or hit a score in Duolingo.

Czech for you is a way to connect with people who are important to you = your in-laws, your neighbours, colleagues, teachers of your kids, delivery or taxi drivers, your ancestors…

You know grammar and words already, but when it’s time to reply in real life, you overthink, your brain freezes, and you are again one sentence behind the conversation.

Czechs speak fast (at the same speed as they pour beer into their bellies, hehe 😄), and you feel ashamed, small, somehow not very clever,

…because you “should already know Czech”, přece!

But your silence has nothing to do with your fabulous self.
You were just trained in an outdated way.

Your brain learns languages through context, not grammar tables.
It doesn’t care about correct endings, it cares about your safety.
So when a Czech person talks to you fast, your brain goes into “danger → freeze”.

Speaking is a skill your brain trains, not through studying, but through repetition in a safe space.

That’s what we do inside the Immersion Program = speaking in small groups that are as close to real life as possible, yet safe, with zero shame and zero judgment.

So slowly, your Czech stops working only in lessons and starts appearing in your real life.

In just 4 months, start feeling at home in Czech conversations.

Christine in Ottawa, Canada, former elementary school teacher and principal

"I gained the assurance to actually use my Czech in real situations."

Specifically, speaking with my husband is becoming more and more natural; I can even make argumentative statements when discussing. I now listen daily to Czech video clips and even respond in Czech in the comments section online.

I am filled with the feeling of 'Yes I can, yes I will, yes I do!' You know, that 'unstoppable me' feeling. Because I truly believe that I have become this person: "Já umím česky."

Fabian Kuriata living in Ostrava, from Poland

"I talked to the delivery guy and my physio... in Czech!"

The best part? She doesn’t speak English, so I had to manage in Czech... and I did! Sometimes with my hands, but still… I noticed something huge: I wasn’t scared anymore.

All this good feeling thanks to the Immersion program.

What the 4-month journey usually feels like

Because knowing what’s coming (and that it’s normal) is often what keeps amazing people going:

⚪️ MĚSÍC 1

“Getting used to it.”

You start excited… and a bit lost. Because a first, everything feels new = language, the rhythm of the program, the way we learn here.

Then you notice that “Wait… I actually understand quite a bit.”

Just speaking is slow, you search for words, bBut you speak because nobody rushes you.

You slowly get used to this new style of learning = less thinking, less pressure for more reacting and more space.

🔴 MĚSÍC 2

“Up and down, nahoru a dolů…”

Some days feel great and you leave the lesson thinking: “Jóó! This worked.” Other days you freeze again and wonder why it feels harder again.

Yep, it goes up and down, this is part of it.

But because another lesson is always coming soon and the prople are always there for you, you don’t stay stuck in the bad moments.

🔵 MĚSÍC 3

“Stretching a little.”

You start noticing more and more your small wins naturally, your words come faster and you react with less overthinking and self doubt.

You even enjoy more challenging conversations because they push you (in a good way) and you allow yourself to just “go with this flow” 🙂

You realise that this is how progress actually feels.

⚪️ MĚSÍC 4

“This feels more like me now.”

You don’t think “I’m fluent.”

You think: “I can do this.”

You speak more in real life, you don’t panic when it’s not perfect, Czech stops being something you practise –>
it becomes something you use.

Gentle reminder 🙂

This journey isn’t linear.

You will definitely have slower days, you also might miss a lesson.

But you’re still part of the group.
And you’re doing better than you think.

Your Czech is not "stuck". It is just waiting for a place to come alive.

That’s why we created the Immersion Program.

A 6-week taste of the full Immersion...

... lighter, but sakra cool 🙂

You’ll speak more, overthink less, and finally feel the shift.

Small wins, real confidence, and a clear glimpse of what’s possible. Because big change starts with one bold step.

A ano, this is a revolutionary approach to learning. 💥🎈

Almost 100 learners joined Immersion in 2025. They were not confident but they had the courage to start.

This is what they noticed and celebrated along the way:

Slowczech isn’t just about language, it’s about PEOPLE.

And our tutors? They’re part of the conversation with you, in Czech.

Here’s what they say about the magic of the program:

tutor Šárka

“Girls, I just have to share the excitement that shakes me up after every shared lesson in the Program.

The students’ energy is better than coke, haha, it shoots me up into the sky every single time.
But what truly makes me pee my pants with joy is the collaboration with you, the fellow tutors.

That shared “power” (meaning the support, connection, and being on the same wavelength) is a completely different dimension—and I want more of it. I’m seriously loving it.”

tutor Maruška

I absolutely love this Program! 💪😁

It’s not something that happens often, that a tutor gets to teach alongside another tutor, let alone two!

We were colleagues before, sure, but actually teaching together in the same lessons? That’s just a whole new level. 🥳”

tutor Jindra

“Woooow, what a ride and what power, I feel that deeply. Managing all of this… wow.

During the lessons, I feel the energy of the people there… their motivation is incredible.
Right now, I just feel so grateful for all of you. I sense the same fire in every one of us.

We’re combining strength, creativity, and ideas.
There’s openness, support… and so much more.

I’m really happy and thankful to be part of this.

tutor Vendy

“That’s awesome there isn’t just one tutor in each lesson!

This way, we can collaborate more, see how someone else leads a lesson, and get to know each other even better 🤩💪🏼🙌🏼

It’s a total blast (To je pecka!) 💣”

tutor Daniela

“I’ve experienced an intensive course where we passed students between us because one tutor just couldn’t handle it alone.
But three tutors in one session? That’s a whole different story.
This aspect feels super interesting to me, and I can’t yet see all the ways it might play out.

What a riiiideeeeeee 🥳

"The Immersion Program has given me the opportunity to speak with people who are in the same situation as me because they are genuinely interested and supportive to listen when I speak. And that’s the feeling I had been searching for in my Czech for so long!"

Derek Montgomery from Canada

Learn Czech that makes you feel heard. Jdeme na to!

Schedule & flow

Mondays 19:30–20:30 (CET)

Wednesdays 19:30–20:30 (CET)

A new group starts together on the 1st Monday or Wednesday of the month and continues for 4 months.

Participants in the Program naturally overlap, just like in real life.
People join, people move forward, and the group stays alive.

Depending on how many people are in the program, we add tutors so the space stays supportive and safe.
(All the sessions include several tutors… and the energy is something sooo special.)

Because we are not meant to learn alone.
We, humans, thrive in community.

Eliška, slowczech founder and leader

This program is designed for your real life, not for textbooks. Your Czech belongs with your people, in your everyday world. And belonging starts when you speak, not when your grammar is perfect.

How the Immersion Program actually works

Over the 3 previous programs we built a structure so you always know where you are, what matters right now and why what you’re feeling is normal.

We know that it helps people stay relaxed and actually start using Czech.

🗣️ Weekly live group speaking

MONDAYS 19:30 – 20:30 českého času

WEDNESDAYS 19:30 – 20:30 českého času

You speak Czech TWICE A WEEK, in live sessions on ZOOM:

  • small breakout rooms (2–4 people)

  • mixed (slightly filtered) levels, just like real life

  • always guided by 2-10 tutors, with slides and tasks to keep you on track, so you don’t just float in conversation.

Each lesson has a clear focus, so you’re not thrown into random conversation. You’ll know in advance: “In this lesson, you’ll practise this, you’ll take away that.”

You don’t need to attend every single lesson.
Each one stands on its own, well… because life is “life-ing” :-))

🎯 Personal goals + individual support

You start with a kick-off session where we set your 4-month goals.

During the program:

  • your goals are revisited

  • tutors check in INDIVIDUALLY with you

  • your individual progress is noticed and celebrated

You also get 2 × 30-MINUTE 1:1 SESSIONS for personal questions, blocks or direction. With the tutor of your choice (to be used within first 2 months).

👥 Community that keeps you going

You learn alongside people who are ilke you.

Each week starts with an optional short sharing space:
small wins, real-life situations, what worked (or didn’t).

Between lessons, we stay connected on the Skool platform for questions, sharing, support, just anything you need or want.

In the previous programs we notived that people help each other naturally. And conversations happen between everyone, not just teacher → student.

There is no calling on people, no pressure, you speak when it feels right for you.

That’s how confidence grows.

🎧 Immersion beyond the lessons

This program isn’t just about speaking with others on ZOOM.

You get podcasts and videos created especially for the Immersion Program =
real-life dialogues, stories, simulated situations.

This input helps your brain get familiar with real Czech before you speak, so speaking becomes easier.

You also get confidence-building worksheets (not some vocabulary lists or homework or traditional fill-in-the-gaps or comprehension tests). This is coaching and self-work, not school.

🚪 Warm welcome that removes stress

Before you start, you’ll get short warm videos showing how lessons work, how breakout rooms work, and how Skool works… so nothing feels confusing or awkward.

Your first week is always an orientation week,
meeting everyone else and slowly joining in.

We take time to welcome you.
It is important for us that you settle in and feel part of the group.

Because at slowczech, you are not a number. Here, you’re seen and supported… from the very beginning. 🤍

The slowczech approach actually takes away the fear of speaking and turns it into acceptance: “I speak in a broken way, and that’s okay.” I really appreciate all the improvements I’ve experienced because of that.

Shih Chienyu

Megan Pirunčíková ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐“I loved the freedom to join when I could... because I am a busy adult.”
What I thought was really clever about the program was that the lessons weren’t tightly connected. You didn’t have to attend every single one to keep up. It worked brilliantly. Unlike a lot of other programs where everything builds on the last lesson and missing one leaves you feeling behind (or even stupid), here, each lesson was like a bite-sized, self-contained experience. Because slowczech is well aware that they are teaching adults!! And that kind of flexibility is golden. Even with the best intentions, many of us just can’t always make it to class or do the homework. This format gave us space to show up when we could, and feel good about it.

This isn’t a level-based course.

Because real life isn’t divided into levels. You can know 2,000 words and still feel afraid to order a coffee. Or you can have finished just two grammar chapters and already chat with a friend in the hospoda.

It’s not just about what you know... it’s about your confidence and focusing on what truly matters. That’s why this program is NOT built around level... but around three practical sections:

event illustration

Basics and daily life

This section is your foundation, filled with everything you need to handle the practical side of Czech life. You’ll manage everyday tasks or basic situations with ease, such as: making a phone call with a delivery guy, engaging in small talk with your neighbour, ordering food, or navigating cizinecká policie. You’ll feel more at home.

workshop illustration

Family and social interactions

This section is all about connecting with the people around you. You’ll learn how to have meaningful conversations with family, friends, and neighbors… whether it’s about traditions, household matters, or social events. The goal here is independence and building stronger connections. Each lesson and piece of content is designed to bring you closer to feeling like you truly belong in these important interactions.

free ebook for czech teachers illustration

Fluency and cultural integration

We’ll explore more advanced topics like workplace conversations, cultural traditions, and Czech values. This section helps you understand the humor, behaviors, and nuances that make Czech culture unique. Each lesson builds your confidence to join deeper conversations and connect more closely with Czech society, bringing you closer to fluency and feeling like a true part of the culture.

You’ll be ready for real-life situations. Whether you’re a slower or faster speaker, you’re capable of taking part in Czech conversations.

It’s not about your level. It’s your confidence that counts!

"Ahoj z Brna! I've 'gotten over myself' about getting it wrong. It's absolutely inevitable, so I just go for it now! Thanks to everyone for the Immersion course!"
Rachel B. D.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"I liked the conversation hours. It helped me flex my Czech muscles a bit more. I don’t live in the Czech Republic and only visit for about a month every year, so I don’t have many opportunities to speak it. My spouse is Czech but I struggle with conversing in Czech with him. Thank you again for this program! Although I was not using it to the fullest, I was finding value in the portions I participated in."
Derek M. from Canada⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Immersion program has given me the opportunity to speak with people who are in the same situation as me. I find it much easier to listen to them speak Czech rather than native Czech speakers who speak so quickly, and they seem genuinely interested and supportive to listen when I speak."
Christine J. from Canada⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Why did the immersion program help me? Because Eliška never let us doubt ourselves. She was constantly, relentlessly encouraging. There was simply no space for discouragement... she made sure of that. And that, to me, is the true art of teaching: lifting people up, keeping the energy high, and helping our motivation not just survive, but grow."
Gerhard L. from Austria⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"It's what I really liked: there were so many interesting People from around the globe. Over the time we really learned to know each other better and this really helped o improve the speaking skills. For me the regular Appointments during the week were very important."
Andy B. from UK⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"For me, the most useful thing is that now I use Czech every day. I can order food, talk to a doctor, formal Czech is not a problem for me. "
Daniëlle L. from Holand⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"Lessons were so great! I really enjoyed the variety in topics. I also really appreciated that we were able to practice some grammar while still focusing on conversation. Czech grammar is something I really struggle with so I'm also happy to practice and improve that. It's been amazing and I am really happy I joined the course. A big thank you to you and all the other lovely teachers 🙂 "

… Czech starts coming out on its own.

FAQ

What is the schedule for the real-life practice lessons?

The schedule is consistent and occurs weekly (Czech times), with exceptions for bank holidays:

  • Mondays: 19:30–20:30
  • Wednesdays: 19:30–20:30

What if I can’t continue or change my mind?

Immersion is a 4-month journey, and when you join, your place is reserved for the whole program. That’s why payments continue even if you miss a lesson or decide to step back.

If you’re not sure whether Immersion is the right fit for you, let’s talk first. We’re happy to have a short call with you and help you decide.

And if your Czech is still at a very early stage, Speaker’s Starter might be a better first step for you.

We want you to join feeling ready and confident that it’s the right choice now.

What about grammar, is that covered at all?

Our main focus is on real-life interactions, building confidence, and practical language use. While we touch on grammar to support your progress, it’s never really the main focus. We include light grammar practice, but only in a way that helps you speak and understand Czech naturally without  drills or overthinking.

What am I actually getting?

For 4 months, you’ll have everything you need to live in Czech, not just study it.

You get:

  • Live speaking every week (2 × 60 minutes)
Small groups (2–4 people), real-life topics, and lessons that stand on their own, so you can join when it fits your life, without worrying you’re “behind”.

  • Personal goals and individual support
    A kick-off goal-setting session, ongoing check-ins, and 2 × 30-minute 1:1 sessions for your questions, blocks, or direction.

  • Guided speaking, not constant correcting
Native Czech tutors who help you speak more naturally, without interrupting you every three words.

  • Immersive input that actually helps you speak
Podcasts, videos, real-life dialogues, and stories created specifically for the Immersion Program so your brain gets input first and speaking feels easier.

  • Confidence-building worksheets
No vocabulary lists, o fill-in-the-gaps but instead light coaching and self-work that supports speaking.

  • Private Skool community
A space to share, ask questions, learn from others, and stay connected between lessons. Plus all the immersive content and your calendar to be found here.

  • A friendly warm start
Short onboarding videos and an orientation week, so you feel welcome, prepared, and part of the group from day one.

  • Grammar when it helps, never as the goal
Grammar is used only when it supports understanding and confidence.

You decide how deep/far you go from simply showing up to the live lessons to immersing yourself more when you have the space.

Either way, this program is built for real life with a steady progress that shows up outside the lessons.

Do you mix Slavic and non-Slavic speakers?

No need to apologize! Unfortunately, there are no recordings of the lessons, but you can always ask in the discussion group about how the lesson went and catch up on insights from others.

What if I can’t attend the real-life practice?

Yes but most of our participants are NON-Slavic speakers.

We only rarely have Slavic speakers in Immersion, and when we do, they naturally blend into the group. Everyone shares the same slowczech mindset: trying, speaking, and supporting each other.

Last year alone, almost 100 participants joined the Immersion Program from all over the world, including people from: the USA, the UK, Italy, Austria, Kosovo, the Netherlands, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, Taiwan, India, Turkey, Indonesia, Norway, Nigeria, Romania, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and a few Slavic speakers from Poland, Belarus, and Moldova.

What matters is the willingness learn together.

Do I need to know some basic Czech?

Immersion is for people who can already use some Czech. You should be able to:

  • form simple sentences

  • ask (at least) basic questions

  • talk about yourself, your weekend, your life

The group is mixed-level (just like real life) but never complete beginners and never super-advanced speakers.

How much you get out of it also depends on one thing:
how brave you’re willing to be 😊

Just know that this program is not designed for complete beginners. If Czech still feels like noise and you can’t form sentences yet, Speaker’s Starter is a much better first step and will prepare you for Immersion.

You are not sure where you fit? Write to us, we’ll help you choose what makes the most sense for you.

What if I’m shy about speaking?

Then you are in the right place 🙂 Our environment is judgment-free and perfection-free. You’re welcome to join, listen, and take your time to see what feels right for you. We’ll encourage and support you in speaking, but we’ll never push you beyond your limits. It’s all about progress at your pace.

When and where does the program take place?

The Immersion Program run for 4 months. And opens every month.

All live lessons happen online via Zoom, and the community space is hosted on Skool, a friendly platform where you connect, share, and access all the materials. (No need to download the app, but it’s an option if you prefer it on your phone.)

How much time do I need each week?

We have 2 × 60-minute live group lessons every week, and they’re not connected. So if you miss one, you won’t feel lost, guilty, or like you “missed the grammar topic” like in a traditional class.

You also get 2 × 30-minute 1:1 sessions during the program. These are your space for personal questions, blocks, goals, or just a bit of clarity and direction.

Everything else (immersive content, mini-tasks, and Skool interactions) is up to you. You might spend 0 hours one week, 10 hours another. Both are okay.

Just be kind to yourself, you have a full life 🙂

Don’t set massive goals that feel impossible to keep.
That’s exactly why the lessons are independent,
real-life speaking practice you can join when it fits, without pressure.

Until when do I need to join?

We start every month. Sometimes on a Monday, sometimes on a Wednesday… the calendar decides 😊

Each group begins together with a kick-off session, where people meet, set goals, and start building trust.
Because of that, we don’t add late joiners; the group learns and bonds from day one.

If you miss the start, no worries, you’ll simply join the next round. Each program runs for 4 full months and finishes on the last day of the fourth month.

We want you to have the full experience, from start to finish.

Are 1:1 sessions part of the program?

Yes.
Two 30-minute 1:1 sessions are included in the Immersion Program for every participant.

Everyone in the program can use them within the first two months.

The 1:1 sessions are there for:

  • personal questions

  • specific blocks

  • confidence support

  • checking direction or goals

You choose when to use them and which tutor you’d like to work with, always a tutor from the Immersion Program, so they already know the context and style of learning.

They’re not mandatory, they’re there if and when you need them. They represent a quite space just for you to get clarity and reassurance or maybe a gentle push forward.

Interesting tidbit: the illustration below depicts a “táborák”, a beloved tradition in Czechia. Friends and families gather around a campfire to relax, chat, grill buřty, and sip beer.

With slowczech, we aim to provide you with a similar atmosphere: a warm, welcoming space to meet fellow learners and practice your Czech in a no-pressure setting. Enjoy! :)
